Inclusive Leisure Service "Quedem" (OCI)

Quedem?

The service was created in 1988 to guarantee the right to choose one’s leisure activities and to enjoy them with friends in inclusive environments.

🔹Article 30 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Participation in cultural life, recreation, leisure, and sport.

Service technical sheet

Brief definition

We are an inclusive leisure service for people with intellectual disabilities and volunteers without disabilities, as a measure of inclusion.

We offer you the chance to decide, organize, and participate in leisure, cultural, and sports activities within the community. Plan trips, make new friends, sign up for courses, workshops, and activities in your neighborhood. We accompany you and provide the support you need.

Our objectives are:
🔹 To give you autonomy.
🔹 To let you decide how to have fun.
🔹 To share it with friends.

Service in numbers

16 active groups (14 in Barcelona, 1 in Manresa, and 1 in Vic)
+580 activities per year
+18 trips per year
85% female representation in the educational team

Three distinguishing features

1. People make the decisions. Activities and trips are planned together with the participants. They decide what they want to do, how, and with whom.
2. Volunteering to share. Volunteers are there to be part of the group, not to act as caregivers. This fosters equal and inclusive relationships.
3. Flexible groups and real friendships. There are small, stable groups, but also open activities for everyone to meet new people and build a wider social network.
