Transparency

The Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation is committed to upholding the Human Rights of people with Down syndrome in particular, and of society as a whole. In order to carry out our mission, we manage resources that directly or indirectly come from our society through different sectors and channels: public grants, private donations from individuals and companies, as well as contributions from our service users.

Our donors, members, and the people we work for have placed their trust in us. Therefore, we believe we have the responsibility not only to manage resources properly and efficiently, but also to inform about how we do so and to demonstrate that these resources are allocated to the actions foreseen and aligned with our mission.

For this reason, we consider it our duty to report on our management, embracing transparency as an essential value of our organization.

In this regard, we are accountable and provide information to society through the following instruments:

On our website, we publish information about our organization, including how we govern and manage the Foundation. We also provide updated information and data regarding the allocation and use of the grants and subsidies we receive, as well as the results of our financial management and main activities.
We report to the Protectorate of Foundations of the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya).
In addition, the Catalan Down Syndrome Foundation undergoes an annual external financial audit conducted by GNL Russell Bedford Auditors, SL.
The Foundation’s annual accounts are filed with the Department of Justice of the Government of Catalonia.
As we receive public funding to finance part of our projects, the Foundation is subject to the Grants Law and to oversight by the Public Administrations that award such funding, including accountability to the granting bodies at national, regional, and local levels.
We have an administrative procedure in place for the monitoring and control of payments, as well as a system for supervising financial operations.
The donations we receive are officially recorded and reported to the Spanish Tax Agency through Form 182 (Informative Tax Return for Donations).
We periodically inform donors about how their contributions are used through personalized letters.
Every year, we publish an annual activity report summarizing the main results and data related to our activities, projects, human resources, and financial performance.
The Foundation is up to date with its tax, fiscal, and Social Security obligations. It is also exempt from the Business Activities Tax and from the Municipal Property Tax.
